Some members of Coolum Beach SLSC have formed two Touch Football teams as part of their off-season training for IRB racing. The Inflatable Rescue Boats are commonly known as Ducks …so one team has been named The Mighty Ducks and the other The Red Ducks…after the club’s red cap.

P1060285The teams reflect the wide demographic range of club membership and range from young adults to more senior players.

Mighty Ducks team captain Caralee Foxwell is one of Coolum’s up and coming ‘gun’ IRB drivers. She already has already won a number of State medals and with team mate Jamieson Hampton is aiming for gold next season. Other young team members are Caralee, Caitlin, Sheri, Lucy-Grace, Luke, Bryce, Chris, Liam and Dan.

The Red Ducks are made up of more senior members of the club and although many of them are playing their first season of Touch Footy, they are quickly picking up the game. Team Captain Shane Urban, who is also Administrator of the Surf Club, says the team is gelling well and everyone enjoys the fun of the mixed comp. Other Red Duck members are Madelin, Trudy, Jody, Alice, Lisa, Frank, Buzz, Alistair, Ken and Scott.

Both teams are sponsored by Star Noosa real estate who are based in Peregian Beach and are the leading sales agency in the area.

To see the Star Mighty Ducks and Star Red Ducks in action under the lights come along to Peregian Springs Oval on Thursday nights.
